Gordon State Nursing School to be Known as School of Nursing, Health, and Natural Sciences

Gordon State College has combined its School of Nursing with its natural sciences program, and the school will now be known as the School of Nursing, Health, and Natural Sciences.

 

操你啦|caonila视频|操你啦在线影院Combining Gordon’s renowned nursing program with the school’s strong natural science offerings allows the College to strategically focus its resources on meeting the workforce needs of its 14-county primary service region.

Georgia is on pace to have the , according to a 2017 report by The National Center for Health Workforce Analysis.

 

Dean of the School of Nursing, Health, and Natural Sciences, Dr. Victor Vilchiz echoes the report’s findings.

 

操你啦|caonila视频|操你啦在线影院“There will be a shortage of approximately 200,000 nurses by the year 2030,” said Vilchiz “It makes sense to combine and realign these very important and productive programs to help meet the need of the workforce and the needs of our students.”


Gordon is well-known for producing great nurses, and several recent graduates of the biology program are currently in medical school or seeking advanced bio-medical degrees.

 

“While our nursing program is a shining star in the state, it is important that we always continue to strive for higher levels of excellence,” said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Jeffery Knighton. “There is a natural connection between the natural sciences and nursing and health sciences.  By combining all of these programs into one school, we increase collaborative efforts, resulting in greater outcomes for our nursing and health sciences majors.”
